Assist New Members

Members can help the church community grow by lending their time and talent to help newer members learn about our ministries, programs and service opportunities. To learn more or get involved with a specific new member program below, contact the staff director listed.

First Friends

The First Friends Ministry is one component of the SEUCC Membership Assimilation Process.  It exists to ensure that each SEUCC new member has one person that is committed to being a source of encouragement, guidance, and support as they learn about SEUCC and become assimilated into their new church family. First Friends are asked to connect with new members at least three times over an eight week period and encourage them to complete their New Member Orientation and PULSE Experience.

Commitment: Serve as an “official” First Friend for 8 weeks to each assigned new member.

Fellowships

New Member Fellowships are one component of the SEUCC Membership Assimilation Process.  New Members are invited to a fellowship for the purpose of engaging Pastor Courtney Clayton Jenkins, ministry leaders, and other new members in a very informal and fun atmosphere.

Commitment: Assist in the preparation and hosting of three New Member Fellowships per year.

Orientation Assistants

New Member Orientations are one component of the New Member Assimilation process.  The Orientations are facilitated by Pastor Courtney Clayton Jenkins. The Orientation Assistants shop for and set up the continental breakfast and distribute and collect all orientation materials. 

Commitment: New Member Orientations are offered six times a year, every other month, on a Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

PULSE Coaches

New Member PULSE Coaches are assigned to a new members if they need assistance in discerning how they should begin serving at SEUCC, after they have complete their New Member Orientation and PULSE Experience.  The PULSE Coach works with the new member to access their spiritual gifts, personality, and passions all in an effort to help them connect to their first areas of service.

Commitment: Could be assigned new members six times a year on an as needed basis.
Gifts: Discerning of Spirits, Knowledge, Leadership, Shepherding, Teaching and Wisdom

PULSE Experience Facilitators

New Member PULSE Experience Facilitators are persons who facilitate the New Member PULSE Experience.  The PULSE experience is a two hour session that provides new members with the necessary information about (1) SEUCC ministries, (2) spiritual gifts, and (3) personal gift assessment so that they can choose their SEUCC PULSE (Place U Love Serving Effectively) and be connected in the life the church.

Commitment: PULSE Facilitators will serve at three out the six PULSE Experiences.
Gifts: Discerning of Spirits, Knowledge, Leadership, Shepherding, Teaching and Wisdom

PULSE Ministry Connectors

New Member PULSE Ministry Connector is a member of a church ministry who takes the responsibility of ensuring all new persons of that ministry feel welcome and are orientated into their new PULSE.  Example, the Usher PULSE Connector would be the person who would welcome the new usher to the usher’s ministry, make sure they know the expectations of the usher, remind them about important usher meetings, and make sure they stay connected to the usher ministry.

Commitment: On an as needed basis, when persons express interest in joining the ministry in which they are the PULSE Connector
Gifts: Administration, Hospitality, Leadership, Shepherding
