We Extend a Warm Invitation
South Euclid United Church of Christ is a church on the move! If you are looking for a church home, we are glad that you have decided to look in our direction. As a historical congregation with an emphasis on diversity, we encourage people of every culture, color, class, orientation and creed to visit us as we launch out into the deep. We are a warm, friendly and inviting church, with a serious commitment to being disciples of Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us in worship on Sunday.
These FAQ should help you learn more about who we are. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call (216) 791-5200 or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be sure to answer any questions you might have.
Where do you hold worship services? Where are your offices located?
You'll see our new church or sanctuary located at the corner of Bluestone and South Belvoir, the Sanctuary address is 955 South Belvoir, South Euclid, Ohio 44121. Our administrative offices are also held on the campus, our official address is 4217 Bluestone Road, South Euclid, Ohio 44121.
What time are your services?
We gather every Sunday at 9:55 am for a traditional worship service and hold our contemporary worship service called The Well at noon. Both services last approximately 90 minutes. During the month of July, South Euclid UCC observes Sabbath month in July and holds one Blended worship service at 11:00AM throughout the entire month.
How would you describe your traditional worship service, The Vine?
This formal service utilizes printed liturgy (call and response), confession and pardoning of sins. During this worship service music is offered from our Chancel Choir, Gospel Choir or Mass Choir.
How would you describe your contemporary worship service, The Well?
This service is affectionately known around the congregation as “The Well Worship Experience.” The Well has a band and praise team, a rather simple program that utilizes technology; freedom in the Spirit is emphasized here along with life application preaching. This service is designed to be intergenerational. Young people are asked to remain in worship with their families.
Is your church handicapped accessible?
Yes. There are handicapped parking spots in the parking lot. We also have a wheel chair on site. Should you have additional needs, please call ahead so that we can prepare to assist you as best we can.
Where should I park and how do I enter the church?
We have a spacious parking lot that accommodates all of our guests during most events held on the campus. In the off chance that overflow parking is needed, there is plenty of street parking surrounding the church.
If I am interested in joining your church, how would I do that?
Toward the end of each worship service we have what is called an “Invitation to Christian Discipleship.” This is the perfect time to step out into the aisle and walk forward. The pastor will pray for you and a member will take your information. If you are uncomfortable walking the aisle, simply sign up at the Information Center in the Atrium or call the church office and schedule a time to talk with the pastor. Every few weeks we have a New Members Orientation class. Upon completion of the class, you will be welcomed as a full member of South Euclid United Church of Christ.
Will I be made to stand up or introduce myself?
At each of our worship services we ask our visitors to stand. You will not be asked to speak. Usually, there will be a welcome message from a member or the pastor. If you stand, you will be asked to complete a Visitor Card and exchange it for a gift at Guest Services following worship.
How should I dress?
Be yourself and wear what is comfortable! When you visit SEUCC you will see folks wearing their Sunday’s best, and others dressed casually. We don’t care what you wear, as long as it’s respectful—whether it’s a three-piece suit or jeans; a sun dress and church hat or polo and khakis—just be yourself.
Do you have services for children and youth?
During our worship services, we offer childcare through our Wiggling Worshippers ministry group for young people up to the age of five. We also have The L.I.D. (Living Into Destiny) youth service on 1st and 3rd Sunday's at 12 noon for students 6-17 years old.
Do you have Bible Study or Small Groups for adults?
Yes. We have many opportunities for you to grow as a disciples of Chrsit. Our small groups are held at various times on Wednesdays. Please contact the church office for more information. Our Small Groups are Bible-study based. We delve in to the subject matter more deeply. We explore scripture, wrestle with important questions of the faith and sharpen one another. Our Adult Sunday School is held on Sunday mornings at 8:45 in Meeting Room 154. We do not have Bible Study during the summer months.
I don’t know much about the United Church of Christ. I come from a different background. Am I welcome at your church?
As part of the United Church of Christ we believe that “no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey you are welcome here.” At SEUCC, we welcome any Christian, regardless of their denomination. There is only one Savior, and he’s greater than any denomination! We also encourage non-believers to join us in worship any Sunday as well. There is plenty of room for your questions.
I am a college student. I have a church home back in my home state, but I like your church too. How can I become active?
Consider becoming a “watch care” member of SEUCC “Watch care” (Associate Member) simply means that we will watch over you and do our best to care for your needs while you are away from your home church. Watch care is a great way to get involved in the life of our church, while still allowing you to be an active and involved member of your home church in another city or state.
Is SEUCC a multi-generational congregation? Are young adults welcome to join?
Absolutely! We honor our “seasoned saints” and thank them for their faithfulness over all these years. We also encourage young adults to join as a church with people of all ages. Here, you can share your gifts, get involved, and grow in God, no matter how “seasoned” or young you are. God has so much more for us—and you, too—and God invites us all on the fantastic voyage of faith. Consider joining our Young Adult Small group. Contact Rev. Carla Jo Howlett for more information.
